The BD Specialist is an integral part of our BD function, supporting practice groups, industry groups, and client account teams in achieving their commercial and marketing goals. The role focuses on specific practice, industry, or client teams, or a combination, managing stakeholders including senior BD team members, partners, and other lawyers, with support from BD Coordinators.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • The ideal candidate will be a Graduate with at least 3 years’ of relevant and in-depth business development experience, within a professional services firm
  • Relevant marketing (CIM) or a postgraduate qualification (advantageous)
  • Proven experience in professional services, including interaction with senior stakeholders and autonomous work
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to engage at all levels
  • Demonstrated flexibility, commitment, and enthusiasm, with keen attention to detail.
  • Exposure to client relationship management is beneficial, along with strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Proficiency in systems and databases (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM applications) is essential
  • Strong team player with a client-focused approach and a creative, strategic mindset
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet tight deadlines

Responsibilities:

Business Development – Global Industries: Consumer & Retail, Pharma & Healthcare and Real Estate

  • Collaborating with senior BD teams in Consumer & Retail, Pharma & Healthcare, and Real Estate to achieve business plan objectives and supporting business and client development initiatives for specific industries, regions, or practices
  • Assisting client programs, supporting team members, partners, and associates on key client targets, and conducting client, market, sector, and decision-maker research and analysis
  • Utilising firm systems (finance, marketing, etc.) and financial reports to support industry, practice, and client development, ensuring accurate recording of all pitches, proposals, and business opportunities in the CRM system (InterAction)
  • Assisting and leading RFP responses, and developing an in-depth understanding of the industry and its priority areas
  • Producing and maintaining credentials and materials on practice group capabilities, including lawyer bios, deal lists, brochures, capability statements, and accolades, while maintaining the firm’s matter experience database
  • Leading submissions for legal directories (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500), league tables, and awards, including coaching lawyers for interviews and reporting on rankings
  • Coordinating with Creative Services and Marketing Technology teams to produce, distribute, and evaluate client alerts, newsletters, and publications, maintaining relevant mailing lists
  • Working with the Communications Team to improve the group’s profile and positioning internally and externally, and contributing to the firm’s social media programs and activities
  • Organising internal and external events, building relationships with key external organisations, supporting internal communication strategies, and sharing information to ensure an integrated industry and practice offering
