SUMMARY

The EMEA VAT Manager role involves ensuring accuracy with reporting guidelines in the designated countries. Besides managing a team person in this role will be responsible for timely and accurate submission of VAT returns, supporting audits, coordinating responses to queries, monitoring tax legislation, and keeping positive relationships with internal and external partners.
This role requires the ability and willingness to travel internationally (not more than 10% of working time), also additional hours may be required at critical times (e.g. month end). The role may also exceptionally require working on public holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the regional VAT and Compliance team to ensure compliance with requirements in the countries in scope, ensuring submission of returns, and statistical and internal reporting.
  • Supporting VAT-related audits and working with the regional tax teams and advisors to prepare audit strategies as the need arises.
  • Coordinating daily tasks of VAT and statistical queries from local authorities, statistical offices and other departments.
  • Cooperating with tax advisors to supervise indirect tax legislation and its impact on the organization and processes.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive collaborations with finance and non-finance teams, as well as external vendors, to lead VAT & Statistical compliance and other internal reporting.
  • Ensuring that processes are aligned with company policies and procedures, audit requirements, and local rules and regulations. Support the strengthening of financial processes and controls.
  • Building and leading high-performing teams with a focus on engagement and talent development.
  • Supporting local, regional and global projects, providing financial expertise to such projects, and being an active advocate for the finance function.
  • Maintaining focus on continuous process improvement, growing the scope of the team’s responsibilities in line with Baxter Business Services’ overall strategy.
