Emergency Department Technician

REQUIREMENTS

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) preferred.
• One or more of the following preferred:
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or Certified EMT Paramedic.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Work Experience:

• A minimum of six (6) months of direct patient care experience is required.

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician provide direct care to patients in the Emergency Department.

• Perform urgent and emergent care procedures including EKGs, wound care, vital sign monitoring, IV initiation, phlebotomy procedures and codes.
• Monitor patient condition and performs data collection.
• Communicate findings and patient condition to primary Registered Nurse (RN).
• Apply, modify and remove casts, traction appliances, and soft goods under written orders of attending physician. Assist physicians with these procedures as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Order and stock unit supplies of all types needed for patient care and locating shared equipment within the Hospital.
• Assist with the mobilization, ambulation and transport of patients.
