The Public Safety and Emergency Services, under the authority of the Emergency Management Act, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is accountable and responsible to the GoA, to Albertans, to their communities, and to industry for the protection of people, their property, and the environment from the effects of emergency events. Alberta relies on a decentralized “system” for managing the various types of emergency events that occur every year. The AEMA accomplishes its objectives by leading the co-ordination, collaboration and co-operation between all entities involved in prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities within this diverse system.
Our agency also works to ensure vital public services, such as government services and first responders, are available during a crisis.
Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Team Lead - Emergency Management Education (TL EM Ed), the Emergency Management Electronic Learning (E-Learning) Designer ensures the creation of accurate, instructionally sound and interactive digital emergency management (EM) training products conforming with current curriculum development and instructional design and adult education best practices. This position directly supports the design, development, and continuous improvement EM product development of the Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA)’s emergency management training system.
Responsibilities Include:
- Designing curriculum based on strong learning outcomes supported by legislative context, field expertise, and contemporary emergency management research and practices
- Identifying new and existing performance gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement in emergency management training
- Curating project advisory teams to support training development from an industry and stakeholder-informed perspective
Providing curriculum development and instructional design-related recommendations to the TCS f or the preparation of reports, correspondence, briefing and issue notes, and presentations to support section/branch/division/ministry businessFormalizing in-house curriculum development and instructional design processes and their applications to emergency management training.
