You will be expected to have experience in Emergency Planning, preferably with an Emergency Planning professional qualification or evidence that you are working towards one.
You should have the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels and make a positive contribution to corporate and service objectives and the Council’s responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act.

If so, you could be just what we’re looking for in an Emergency Management Officer, part of the Emergency Management team. The team works alongside colleagues across the Councils, external partner organisations, and the public to ensure the Councils fulfil their obligations under the Civil Contingences Act.
You’ll play a direct role in keeping the Council and Bath and North East Somerset ready to respond and recover should the worst happen. Your role will also include supporting the management of city centre security including permit requests, HVM management and working closely with CCTV.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Emergency Management Team Leader, your day-to-day work will involve:
Supporting the designing and delivering training and exercises
Reviewing and improving response plans
Collaborating with external organisations such as the emergency services and voluntary sector, as well as other emergency planners from across Avon and Somerset
Helping to develop new capabilities that increase our preparedness
You’ll be part of a supportive team and will work regularly with colleagues in other departments.
