Description:

NHSE is seeking to recruit a Deputy Head of School on a part-time secondment basis. You will work with and support the Head of School in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHS England mandate.
The post is for three years in the first instance.
This role is an East Midlands role so your work would span the whole region. The post is offered on a secondment basis and all candidates are reminded that if they are successful, they are responsible for securing written agreement from their employer for release from clinical work for the specified number of PAs.
You will support the Head of School to be responsible for the overall quality, management and supervision of the programmes within the School. This will include ensuring all programmes meet the standards defined by Health Education England, the GMC and Royal College. You will work closely with the Head of School, NHSE’s senior educators, other Heads of Schools, Directors of Medical Education and Training Programme Directors to ensure that each trainee is able to access a comprehensive range of experiences which will enable them to cover the speciality curricula.
You will be expected to maintain a clinical commitment. It is essential that you have a medical degree, membership/fellowship of the relevant Royal College/Faculty and have a current substantive contract as an NHS Consultant in a relevant specialty. In addition, you should possess excellent leadership skills and meet professional requirements for Continuing Professional Development and Revalidation and make a wider professional contribution through academic and managerial responsibilities.
The NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:
Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
Delivering value for money.
If you would like to know more or require further information, please visit https://www.england.nhs.uk/.
Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you’ll usually need to be paid the ‘standard’ salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the ‘going rate’ for your job, whichever is higher. You can find more information on the Government website .
NHS England, working in the East Midlands, is looking for a Deputy Head of School to join the school of Emergency Medicine. Our work is set within the Five Year forward view for the NHS. It is part of the consensus on how the NHS needs to change, with a key focus on prevention and a commitment to reducing health inequalities and promoting equality and diversity.
As part of a national system, please note that a flat rate of £10,000 per PA, per year, (or pro rata as necessary) will be paid to a Trust for successful candidates appointed to TPD roles. This should be treated as a contribution towards the overall cost and is not a reflection of the individual’s pay.
You can find the detailed job description and main responsibilities in the attached Job Description and other supporting documents.
Secondments
Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only, agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application
