The Hillsboro site produces high-end microscopes for the life science, semiconductor and material science markets. Our sophisticated products enable scientists to see things 10,000x smaller than the width of a human hair. These valuable insights aid researchers in developing life-saving treatments for disease, enable materials analysis in areas such as battery research and provide critical insights for semiconductor chip manufacturing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is required. Candidates with equivalent experience or previous roles in a manufacturing environment will be given preference. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • 7-10 years’ experience as an EHS Manager in a large company with a history of leading and implementing site-wide programs.
  • Requires strong organizational skills to lead initiatives, drive projects, host successful audits and maintain regulatory certifications.
  • Solid leadership experience in collaborating with colleagues to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to balance daily responsibilities while achieving long-term goals.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 environmental management systems, auditing, and inspections.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and local EHS regulations and requirements (i.e., Oregon OSHA, EPA, etc.) and experience with interpreting and aligning requirements to site-specific programs.
  • Proficiency with computer applicationsr, including MS Office 365, is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a preventive safety culture by implementing programs and strategies to prevent injuries. Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and build preventive action plans to ensure that employees have adequate protection for workplace hazards.
  • Conduct investigations and identify prevention methods for reported hazards, accidents, and near-misses.
  • Administer the Employee Safety Training Program, including developing and delivering training curriculum and selecting and evaluating outside consultants/trainers.
  • Coordinate the Safety Committee, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and run site-wide drills to prepare the site for emergencies.
  • Establish programs and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and codes, including ISO 14001 and radiation safety programs. Lead Biosafety, Chemical Safety, Ergonomics, and Worker’s Compensation Programs. Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies/government authorities.
  • Coordinate applications for wastewater, hazardous waste, stormwater, and regulatory permitting.
  • Lead audits and manage root causes and corrective actions (RCCM).
  • Maintain and report safety metrics to leadership and conduct trend analyses to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support and update safety aspects of the Hillsboro Business Continuity Plan.
