Job Summary:
As the Employee Relations Advisor you will work closely with the Senior Manager, Employee Relations & Mobility to support our people strategy with a specific focus on conducting employee investigations for both Canada & US. As the Employee Relations Advisor, you will be responsible for the investigation process from beginning to end, working closely with and communicating back to HR colleagues and business stakeholders on findings. As part of this position, you will help identify trends and areas of improvement based on data findings through your investigations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints across Ledcor’s businesses, collaborate with Business HR, LR and leadership to ensure investigations are completed effectively and efficiently
  • Oversee all investigations and provide guidance throughout the process
  • Ensure consistency across employee investigations by following Ledcor’s standard investigation procedures and policies and considering past examples to inform practice
  • Engage with counsel for investigation support where necessary
  • Maintain complete documentation for investigations and ensure this is effectively retained
  • Enter investigation data into our report management system
  • Review data to identify trends and report back to HR
  • Make recommendations to improve policy and processes
  • Provide advice to Business HR on handling employee issues such as employee terms and conditions, accommodation requests, absenteeism, performance concerns and disciplinary issues.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of programs, including template letters and training, to assist in managing the above employee issues
  • Provide advice to Business HR on involuntary terminations
  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with all levels of management and the HR team

Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience providing professional level generalist HR experience with a focus on investigations is required for the position
  • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution and relationship management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current employment legislation and relevant case law
  • Proven influencer with the ability to provide guidance and direction to business clients, and develop strong interpersonal relationships
  • Effective negotiation, mediation, and facilitation skills
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with and across multiple functional areas of HR and operations
  • Proactive, flexible, and comfortable in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, which demands a high level of energy and commitment
  • Excellent customer service focus and team player
  • Ability to handle high volume with multiple competing priorities
  • Highly proficient in all areas of Canadian and US employment law and human rights legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Must possess tact, diplomacy, and ability to maintain confidentiality
