Description:

STATUS: Exempt, regular full-time
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
LOCATION: Goleta, CA / Santa Barbara, CA
Job Summary and Scope of Responsibility: Provides specialized support in the areas of employee relations, recruitment and staffing, employee training and development, and employee recognition. Formulate partnerships to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the Bank.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: With or without reasonable accommodation must be able to perform all essential job functions as described below.

  • Responsible for employee relations ensuring objectivity, fair and equitable treatment of all employees with consistent practices of administering human resources policies and procedures.
  • Initiate recruiting process to include job postings, application review, interview screening and scheduling, offer letters and background checks. Coordinate pre-employment on-boarding activities.
  • Coordinates employee recognition activities, including oversight of the Elevate Team, Awardco, quarterly employee appreciation events and employee activities.
  • Mentors and advises managers regarding staffing, performance management, career pathing, training needs and supervisory development.
  • Assist with the set-up and maintenance of the computer based training system, including evaluation of recurring curriculums and scheduling of ad-hoc training classes.
  • Assist with annual salary surveys.
  • Conduct research on various HR-related topics and prepare reports that include findings and recommendations.
  • Assists employees with HR leave management by being the liaison with the employee.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of standard HR practices, concepts and terminology.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state employment and wage & hour laws.
  • Aptitude for detail and organization.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of recruiting practices, resources and regulatory concerns.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Professional demeanor and speaking skills.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain required licenses, registrations or certifications.
  • Computer proficiency, including internet browsers and Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions under minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency at speaking, reading and writing English.

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Four-year degree with a major in Business or Human Resources, or equivalent training and experience.
  • One year of experience performing moderately complex human resources related tasks, preferred.
  • Possession of HR certification from SHRM or HRCI, preferred.
