Job Scope: Responsible to ensure KYC is following federal, state and local guidelines and policies for the intake, review, investigation and resolution of issues brought by employees, staff and leadership. Interacting with all levels of the organization regarding employee relations, legal compliance, investigations, discipline, terminations and negotiated separations. Function as an advisor to KYC divisions and operational units. Analyze training and retention needs, developing and delivering training programs that resolve issues, and when appropriate to prevent future employee relations issues. Collaborate closely with the Director of Talent & Culture, Executive Leadership Team and other management groups.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree in Human Resources or in related field preferred.
  • SPHR, HRCI or AWI Certification preferred
  • Minimum (3) years HR experience required
  • Minimum (1) year supervisory experience, preferably as a manager, required.
  • Non-Profit Experience preferred
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation, skills

Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert on employee relations to mitigate organizational risk and find solutions to employee, management and team issues.
  • Functional knowledge of employment law, Illinois and local ordinances.
  • Provide advice, counsel and resolution recommendations to management on employee issues in compliance with regulations and laws. Guide management through the disciplinary process to achieve risk mitigated outcomes.
  • Document investigations, provide written summaries. Work with management to find and implement actionable solutions to employee issues. Work with legal counsel, represent KYC at 3rd party legal proceedings, respond to unemployment notices and hearings.
  • Research and recommend changes to policies, procedures, practices and employee handbook to ensure compliance with federal, state and local ordinances.
  • Partner with HR and management on FMLA, LOA, W/C, ADA, disability claims, Work with program supervisors to ensure all incident reports are completed and maintained. Conduct interactive process with employees to determine ADA compliance and reasonable accommodations.
  • Update HR files, maintain and revise issues log to track issues, occurrence, and resolution.
  • Conduct training needs assessment, develop and deliver programs to address identified needs. Goal to develop a training university or library of programs covering the employment lifecycle.
  • Conduct professional development and staff retention analysis – work with staff and management to facilitate staff development and training opportunities to improve employee engagement.
  • Ensure compliance in accordance with guidelines established by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Department of Aging (DOA), and Department of Human Services (DHS), and other applicable state agencies for staff and volunteers
  • Remain current on workplace law including federal, state, city and Joint Commission regulations, and submit all required reporting that applies to the organization.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
