Job Summary
We are seeking an Employee Wellness Specialist, to support NAV CANADA’s Health and Wellness Strategy and assist in the implementation of initiatives by engaging stakeholders, planning, championing and delivering wellness initiatives to the business that increase employee engagement and support a wellness culture.
Reporting to the Manager, Health & Wellness, the Employee Wellness Specialist, assists in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of company-wide total wellbeing initiatives. The Employee Wellness Specialist also contributes to the development of programs that create awareness and enhance motivation and provides tools to employees that help them adapt and maintain a well-rounded healthy lifestyle.
The Employee Wellness Specialist also provides support to the NAV CANADA wellness programs that include Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), The Chemical Dependency Education and Rehabilitation Program (CDERP), Light the Way and Thrive.

In this role you will:

  • Coordinates program implementation and maintains total wellbeing programming to reduce health risk, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles, including, regular and periodic conceptualizing regional program initiatives.
  • Identifies training needs and develops or organizes the planning and delivery of training sessions, considering the multiple parties involved. Evaluates outcomes and adjusts program requirements to align with training needs.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates appropriate health and wellness promotion strategies in consultation with the Manager Employee health and Wellness to create a healthy workplace.
  • Implements and administers wellbeing related activities, with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Keeps abreast of current national wellness and wellbeing initiatives and activities, develops a network of resources and contacts to use as appropriate.
  • Explores ideas and opportunities to personalize the program to increase employee participation.
  • Coordinates periodic program meetings to enhance employee buy-in and assist with implementation and communication of initiatives.
  • Provides support in the development of new wellness policies and initiatives. This may include conducting research on industry best practices and consulting with outside agencies.
  • Participates in special projects as may be required and assigned.

What you bring:

  • Diploma in Social or Health Related education, Nursing or related field, or a combination of education and experience;
  • 3+ years experience working in a wellness profession, in a health environment and/or Human Resources or equivalent
  • Experience in crisis management;
  • Experience in providing mental health support;
  • Experience in providing health coaching;
  • Experience in the delivery of health promotion programs;
  • Experience in providing training and facilitating group meetings/training;
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Wellness Program principals, theories and best practices specifically in the areas of, health promotion strategies and adult education;
  • Knowledge of designated group agencies and associations for resource purposes to enhance wellness initiatives;
  • Knowledge and abilities in project management and data analysis to ensure wellness initiatives are planned efficiently and desired goals are achieved;
  • Knowledge and abilities to work within a wellness team to effectively deliver and support the health promotion programs;
