KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Post internship and job opportunities in Western’s job and internship portal on behalf of employers.
- Communicate with employers to confirm accurate and complete job posting details.
- Assess job opportunities and report any fraudulent recruitment activity.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all employer interactions within a shared database including creating accounts for new organizations and contacts.
- Coordinate and schedule interviews with Western students on behalf of employers.
- Post on-campus recruitment event details in event calendar to increase student awareness.
- Provide support to employers visiting campus including parking, AV, and catering.
- Manage attendance tracking at recruitment events to support data collection of student engagement and employer relations outcomes.
- Promote the hiring of all Western students in interactions with employers and campus stakeholders.
- Support the unit’s focus on increased opportunities for students from equity-deserving group.
- Attend and represent Western at industry events including organization of promotional materials.
- Contribute to other Employer Relations Unit priorities and events as needed

Minimum Required:
- Completion of an undergraduate degree
- Experience
Minimum Required:
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent oral communication skills; professionalism in communicating with employer and diverse campus stakeholders
- Strong event planning and management skills
- Proven ability to set and work to deadlines
Preferred:
- Experience in the employment or recruitment industry, including sales experience, job search strategies, corporate recruiting of university students, or working with career services, human resources, or other management functions
- Experience managing client relationships
- Experience using databases
- Experience in marketing, business development and sales
- Experience in event planning
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong relationship development skills with proven ability to assess needs, handle objections and recommend solutions to clients both in person and on the telephone
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with a demonstrated ability to be persuasive
- Exceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple projects and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
- Proficiency with relevant computing applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Client Relations Management systems, web-based applications, etc.)
Responsibilities:
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Employer Relations Assistant supports the hiring of Western students in work integrated learning and new graduate opportunities by posting paid opportunities and scheduling interviews on behalf of employers. They also help to connect Western students with employers by supporting on-campus recruitment events including information sessions and career fairs.
