Position Title: Employment Coach, ECEA Training Program
Location: Robert Lee YMCA (955 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1Y2)
Terms: Temporary, Full-time
Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: March 31, 2025 (possibility of extension contingent on funding)
Hours: 35 hours per week, Hybrid Setting
Salary: $53,000 - $ 59,000 annually
Reports to: Supervisor, Employment Programs
Benefits: Full group benefits; YMCA Staff Membership; paid vacation and sick days

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • CDP or related certification is an asset
  • Experience working in a childcare setting or working with children
  • Established relationships within the local business community and proven track record in employment placement recruitment
  • Experience with developing and facilitating community based programming and services
  • Strong facilitation skills with proven experience in developing curriculum in life, employability and computer skills within an employment program setting
  • Exceptional communication skills, both internally and externally, via phone and email with the ability to adapt approach to different stakeholders
  • Experience leading pre-employment and career information workshops and presentations
  • Awareness of local resources and willingness to develop community supports
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in high demand environment
  • Computer proficient – Adobe, DocuSign, Salesforce and Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook and SharePoint
  • High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment and comfortable working from home
  • Proven responsibility to coordinate tasks and work as part of a team
  • Confident with online communication platforms such as Zoom
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR-C Certificate required, can be obtained within 30 days of start date
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/ Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates participant recruitment and screening process, assessing their work readiness and fit for the program
  • Facilitate life, employability, job maintenance, social and wellness workshops
  • Communicate and organize practicum placements with YMCA childcare facilities
  • Create program schedule and connect with guest speakers to book them or workshops
  • Conduct weekly 1-1 check-ins with participants and arrange follow up meetings to support and track employment progress
  • Connect with participant supports to provide wrap around programming
  • Effectively respond to crisis and implement behavioral management strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders including referral agencies and community organizations, government agencies, and businesses/employer community
  • Conduct outreach in order to engage and recruit suitable participants
  • Recruit potential employers for work opportunities for participants
  • Provide follow up support to program participants who have completed the program and collect proof of employment
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports and statistical information using Salesforce CRM
  • Travel occasionally required
