EDUCATION

A secondary school diploma, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Experience in intervening with and/or supporting individuals who are working on changing their behaviour.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social Sciences or any other area relevant to the position.

EXPERIENCE

Experience working in a correctional environment (institution or community-based).
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with and/or providing services to Indigenous Peoples.
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with and/or providing services to People of Ethno-cultural background.
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with and/or providing services to people with mental health needs.
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with and/or providing services to women.
Experience developing partnerships with community organizations.
Experience providing employment services and/or career counselling.
Experience facilitating skills based programs.
Experience working for a Federal Government department.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities:

CORCAN, as part of the Correctional Service of Canada, is responsible for the Employment and Employability Program for offenders while incarcerated in federal penitentiaries, and after they are released into the community. The Employment Coordinator position provides services and interventions to offenders, including developing partnerships with community employers and organizations and providing direct support, services and program interventions to assist them with finding employment in the community.
