Description:

ABOUT THIS JOB

To undertake and manage a full caseload of legal work in the area of Employment Law and progress to conclusion.
Carry out research and provide legal advice, and negotiate and agree, draft, prepare and process legal agreements and documents, and all other necessary and appropriate documentation associated with matters in the area of Employment Law.
Provide legal support to the Council to enable and facilitate the provision of high-quality legal service.
Prepare, negotiate, draft and agree routine legal documentation and forms, and all documentation associated with the legal process, including briefs, pleadings, claim forms, affidavits, witness statements and so forth.
Provide legal advice in relation to and prepare formal Legal Implications for reports under the supervision of the Principal Employment Lawyer, to relevant committees, panels, working parties and other meetings as required.
Undertaking advocacy such as directions appointments and applications for order by consent, case management discussions and hearings appropriate to experience.
To actively undertake fee generated work.
To work/share with the team out of hours cover over holiday periods
Undertake cross working with other teams within specialised areas.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POST

Qualified Solicitor or barrister or equivalent e.g. FILEX or
Other post Graduate qualification in the relevant legal area or discipline.
