WHAT YOU BRING

We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:

  • Diploma / Degree in Disability Studies, a related social science or Business.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience working with individuals including; disabilities, mental health concerns or other related barriers to employment/services.
  • One (1) year experience supervising and leading a team.
  • Excelllent wriiten and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate First Aid CPR C & AED is required
  • Demonstrated high-level proficiency in technology, including but not limited to Microsoft 365 Office
  • Ability to manage a team with strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
  • Solid organizational skills and a positive collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Knowledge of non-profit and disability services sector is an asset
  • Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism aligned with Vecova values
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all Vecova team members
  • Represent Vecova in a professional manner
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Demonstrate a high level of administrative and IT capacity

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other Employment Services Team leaders and all Employment Services team members to provide seamless employment support to newcomers with barriers to employment.
  • Facilitate and champion the process for an individual to become successfully employed and to maintain employment.
  • Provide advice and support to employers regarding hiring, orientation, and training for newcomers with barriers to employment while maintaining confidentiality for the individual.
  • Identify and develop connections with local companies/organizations to secure paid employment opportunities for newcomers.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to help newcomers identify their skills, strengths, and career goals
  • Promote department activities, keeping teams’ current on initiatives, changes and apprising others of potential impacts as a result of these changes.
  • Recognize, take action, and follow-up on signs of newcomers well-being.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive database of current and potential employers, including contact information and available job opportunities.
