The Endoscopy Flow Coordinator is a crucial role within our busy unit, proactively managing the patient flow from admission to discharge within Endoscopy. You will be working within a fast-paced environment that performs Endoscopy procedures on hundreds of patients (both outpatient and inpatient) each week. Working amongst a large team of clinical and administrative staff, you will focus on the smooth running of the unit and its 7 procedure rooms on a daily basis, coordinating as necessary while overseeing the scheduling of patients requiring emergency or urgent inpatient procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively manage the patient flow from admission to discharge within Endoscopy, working closely with the nursing and clinician teams.
Make independent decisions of appropriate patients to transfer to Endoscopy from inpatient areas for their procedures as required.
Provide accurate, updated information on daily activity within Endoscopy. Maintain an effective system for identifying the availability of procedural rooms to ensure that fluctuations in demand, clinical priorities and emergency cases are dealt with effectively and efficiently, escalating concerns to operational management.
Communicate effectively with the ward teams, Matrons, Divisional Nursing staff, Consultants and their teams, Ward clerks, Trust site coordinators, Care Group Manager, Service Manager, ED staff, other Bed Managers, Admissions and Discharge Unit and patients.

General Duties
Proactively manage the patient flow from arrival to departure within Endoscopy.
Provide accurate, updated information on daily activity within Endoscopy. Maintain an effective system for identifying the availability and demand of waiting, procedural and treatment capacity throughout a given day to ensure that fluctuations in demand, clinical priorities and emergency cases are dealt with effectively and efficiently. To implement any planned actions required, liaising as appropriate with managerial, clinical and medical staffing to optimise fluctuations in demand and clinical priorities.
To gain an awareness of infection risks, preventing the spread to other patients through isolation processes, as guided by the Nurse in Charge.
Communicate effectively with the ward team, Matrons, Nursing staff, Consultants and their teams, Ward clerks, Trust site coordinators, Care Group Management teams, booking teams and patients.
Attend and aid the facilitation of the departmental huddles and other meetings as required. Provide accurate information on capacity and how the department is currently preforming against quality indicators and targets. Escalating at other times if necessary.
To escalate concerns to the Endoscopy Nurse in Charge for patient safety issues.
Support the coordination with internal and external teams to facilitate patient transport where needed.
Ensure the effective transition and communication of patient details for inter-hospital transfers.
