To support this mission, we have an exciting opportunity for a talented and highly motivated Energy Efficiency Consultant. As a key resource and trusted advisor to our Clients and Partners, you will manage a diverse group of stakeholders to execute successful energy efficient and decarbonized strategies.

  • Attend and conduct energy audits, studies, and workshops, facilitating and co-designing energy and emissions reduction strategies leveraging whole building energy modelling and evaluation practices, including: design options analysis, ASHRAE 90.1/National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB) energy modelling, daylight simulations, parametric energy modelling, and embodied carbon analysis.
  • Design and modelling of net zero buildings together with supporting clients on a range of decarbonization strategies to meet their goals.
  • Perform high level energy analysis for buildings portfolio using energy planning tools.
  • Review of mechanical drawings, mechanical equipment submittals, electrical drawings, and/or architectural drawings/specifications against high performance/net zero goals and sustainability certification criteria.
  • Prepare and present results and professional recommendations to clients and teams.
  • Write reports communicating certification, energy modelling findings, and design recommendations for achieving sustainability/energy targets.
  • Conduct research and technical analysis for projects and reporting on findings.
  • Work or lead others in a multi-disciplinary team to undertake analysis and provide feedback.
  • Support energy planning, resiliency, and other projects relating to high performance buildings and communities.
  • Work with the Sustainability Consultant and project team to develop sustainability strategies to meet project’s sustainability target.
  • Offer support to facilitate submissions to green building certification systems.

Qualifications:

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL FOR THIS ROLE?

  • 5+ years of experience conducting ASHRAE level energy audits, energy modelling & acting as a sustainability consultant for clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering (or another engineering discipline) from an accredited program; or commensurate degree and experience with building systems and/or Sustainability.
  • Professional Engineer license (asset).
  • Strong understanding of building systems across disciplines and proven experience in at least one discipline such as HVAC, plumbing/piping, electrical, lighting, instrumentation, and controls, or building envelope systems.
  • Strong knowledge and practical understanding of the application and deployment of the following offers:
  • Building Automation
  • Energy bill validation
  • Measurement and Verification (IPMVP certified preferred)
  • Solar, Battery Storage and EV charging solutions
  • Boilers and HVAC Controls
  • Familiarity with International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) requirements and energy modeling protocols.
  • Understanding of high performance and zero carbon building principles and technologies.
  • Experience with life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) calculations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% within the region.
