    Engagement Lead
Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.
    About the role
We are seeking a Stakeholder Engagement Lead that sits within our Public Relations and Communications team. You’ll play a pivotal role in facilitating relationships with internal and external stakeholders and applicable project partners during the creation and delivery of stakeholder engagement strategies and activities. This role will involve devising and implementing plans for event-based engagement including community outreach activities and public events. You’ll be joining an innovative, well-established team who work closely and supportively to achieve strong commercial results and positive outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
This role offers a blend of strategic oversight, relationship management, and operational excellence.
Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Manager (WGT project), you will contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. If you are passionate about building strong relationships and making a tangible impact on major infrastructure projects. This is the role for you.
    Day-to-day, you will:
-

Identify key stakeholders and proactively develop and maintain relationships, including with key community partners and government stakeholders.

  • Lead the development and implementation of stakeholder and community engagement strategies to explain the project scope, benefits, construction works and opportunities to be involved – including selecting methods, measurement mechanisms etc.
  • Identify opportunities for positive media coverage and government relations and communicate with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of communications activities to support engagement objectives, using appropriate channels including online, social media, advertising, media relations and community relations.
  • Set up systems and processes to enable consistent project communications and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely community communications, including collateral, online materials, newsletters and works notifications.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
-

Demonstrated ability to develop and lead implementation of infrastructure project engagement strategies, particularly community and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

  • Event management expertise including in planning, risk mitigation, delivery, administration, and reporting aspects of event-based engagement.
  • Excellent project management and analytical skills to ensure community is considered in decision making and best for project outcomes are achieved.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver strategies to support project objectives, using a broad range of channels.
  • Strong understanding of media processes and political landscape at both State and Federal levels.
  • Excellent planning, project management and organisational skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Arts, Stakeholder Engagement, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or Public Relations, or a field associated with planning, delivering, or operating major infrastructure will be beneficial.

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
-

A range of flexible working options

  • 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, available for the duration of the contract, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well
  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests
  • Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more
  • Social activities and groups

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.
We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.
We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability. If you require any adjustments or support during the recruitment process, please contact us on
