ABOUT THE ROLE
How can we show people the benefits of being part of research studies? How do we help open up research to more people with heart muscle disease? We have an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic and growing Cardiovascular Genetics and Genomics team at Imperial College London. Help answer these questions, working with our online Heart Hive research platform.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
The Heart Hive is designed for patients to interact directly with, signing up to studies and clinical trials, and we hope this will lead to empowered participants who feel like they’re making a difference to the future of cardiomyopathy treatment and ultimately improvements in patient care.
Our group is based across Royal Brompton and Hammersmith Hospitals, part of the National Heart and Lung institute, MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Our research focus is to investigate the impact of genetic variants on inherited cardiac conditions and how we can use this to improvement treatments and healthcare.
You will work closely with research participants, collaborators (clinicians, funders, charities) and our research partners at the Broad Institute. You will be responsible for growing the platform, engaging participants, and attending patient events, and working to promote the platform within the cardiomyopathy research community.
Other key responsibilities of the position will be managing the study database, providing researchers with data whilst understanding the complexities of our data protection responsibilities, answering participant and researcher queries, crafting engaging social media posts and other outreach methods, assisting with research ethics approvals, administration and amendments and building and designing surveys. You will also assist with invoicing, purchasing and budgeting relating to the Heart Hive, and work closely with the research delivery team.
