Engine Overhaul Engineer I will supervise and mentor Engineers, Senior Technicians, Technicians and Mechanics to carry out Assembly, Disassembly, Cleaning, Inspection, Repairs, refurbishment, modifications, testing and rectification on all types of aircraft engines, engine systems, engine components to a high standard at the Emirates engine maintenance centre EEMC / Engine overhaul workshop EOW, to hold approval to certify own tasks as well as those directly under the job holders supervision, to certify and release to service work carried out in accordance with Airworthiness requirements and the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) recommendations.
Knowledge / Skills :
- Ability to delegate tasks and lead a team to ensure all work carried out and the progress is aligned to production plan.
- Monitor and be accountable for all paperwork/work instructions for task that are being supervised are accurate and completed to regulatory standards at all times.
- Competent and experienced with reviewing/Understanding/Actioning Airworthiness Directives (AD’s) Service Bulletins (SB’s).
- Perform budgetary activities for the sub-gate or section/line.
- Carry out risk assessment and periodic audit on team and section per the regulatory requirements and MOE relevant procedures.
- Ability to command diverse culture and lead in coordination with support sections to achieve gate targets
Responsibilities:
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Manage the activities and work of direct reports by providing mentoring and guidance to ensure that work with is carried out efficiently in line with the individual’s targets, assist with providing feedback to direct reports when targets or goals are not being achieved and work with the individual to improve performance.
- Manage all tasks for quality and accuracy by utilising knowledge of the engine overhaul process, company procedures as well as the use of the ESM, IPC, CMM, SB’s and AD’s ensuring paperwork and MRO ERP system tasks are completed progressively and in accordance with the regulatory requirements, MOE relevant procedures and as well, the relevant EPM’s and company policies.
- Liable for sectional metric responsibility for targets and planned work, oversee allocation and training of staff ensuring the allocated tasks are aligned to individual’s approvals / competencies. Develop skills matrix and training program for staff to meet sectional requirements.
- Create and promote a safe working environment for all staff ensuring direct reports have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to work safely in alignment with EEMC / EOW Safety policy, provide support and direction. Be a role model for the desired safety behaviours and always lead with safety. Ensure reporting any non-conformance in safety and quality immediately via company procedures. Act to mitigate any observed unsafe condition and prevent any incident, ensure all ’near miss’ situations are reported via company procedures and highlighted to Line manager.
- Ensure own attendance and direct reports are in alignment with sectional shift pattern, monitor direct reports attendance and initiate step in accordance with the company Capability and Disciplinary regulations. Lead daily Toolbox meetings, actively participate in all other meetings as required, suggest, coordinate and lead projects that contribute to improvements to process, increased efficiency or better practice.
- Assess staff competencies, skills and ability to successfully gain self-certification approval, Assess Senior Technicians to successfully gain Inspectors approval, Mentor technicians and mechanics and identify areas of improvement to achieve the desired skill level. Provide assistance and guidance to Technicians with application for approvals focusing on a detailed regulatory and compliance comprehension.

- Manages effective achievement of unit goals through managing by setting individual goals, managing performance, developing, training and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal in order to maximise subordinate performance.
- To oversee efficient manpower management using the 145 roster or relevant roster for daily, weekly and monthly tasks. Without compromising any human variables, maintain over time within the budgeted hours.
- Ensure to effectively set staff annual business contribution evaluation. goals and competencies through conducting quarterly and annual performance reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST MEET THE BELOW REQUIREMENTS:
- 12+ years of experience in Aviation Maintenance or MRO Environment with at least 5 years certifying experience as an approval holder in a reputable Airline or MRO company.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Honours of Engineering in Aeronautical subjects: Mechanical, Maintenance, Avionics, Electronics Tech Engineering OR Valid Maintenance Engineering License OR Apprenticeship of at least 2 years.
- Must hold the relevant Engine Overhaul workshop approval / authorisation.
