To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a high school diploma, GED, or trade school education. Must have knowledge in principles of all equipment used in hospitals. Proficiently reads schematics, manuals, and blueprints on engines and blowers. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if
required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram
form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Willing to
learn all aspects of special systems.
Must have education/training experience in at least one of the three (3) areas as described below:
(1) HVAC/Refrigeration: A minimum of five (5) years of experience with Journeyman level skills in the HVAC/Refrigeration trade or an HVAC/Refrigeration organized apprenticeship program. Working knowledge of chiller and boiler systems is also required. Commercial refrigeration and ice machine experience preferred.
(2) Plumbing : A minimum of five (5)years of experience with Journeyman level skills in the commercial plumbing trade or an organized apprenticeship program. Knowledge of current plumbing codes required, and experience with hot water heating systems preferred.
(3) Tenured/Semi-skilled: In the absence of an organized apprenticeship program, applicants must be skilled in a least two (2) identified trades with a minimum of ten years of full-time employment in the Engineering/Maintenance department at Sierra View Medical Center or another acute care, inpatient, healthcare facility.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred

• 5 years experience in either HVAC/Refrigeration, Plumbing, or Tenured/Semiskilled ENG B.
