Description:
THE JOB ITSELF
An exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join the Flood and Coastal Risk Management team, which forms part of the award-winning Civil Engineering Services Group. You will be part of a forward thinking and experienced team, which manages the delivery of both revenue and capital funded small to medium sized flood alleviation schemes. Other duties of the team include maintaining and inspecting flood risk assets, taking on the role of Lead Local Flood Authority under the Flood & Water Management Act and operator under the Reservoirs Act.
As an Engineer, you will lead on the inception and delivery of flood risk projects, this will include undertaking investigations, surveys, and the design. You will be responsible for the tender award of projects and budget monitoring. Other areas of the team where you may also be involved is supporting on the teams medium sized flood risk projects or dealing with land drainage enquiries.
We seek a motivated individual with a working knowledge of the construction industry, and an understanding of land drainage and surface water drainage disciplines. You should have experience in dealing with complex and varied situations, with knowledge of relevant design codes and standards. A working knowledge of NEC procedures would also be beneficial.
You should hold a NVQ Level 4 (HNC) or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject and have an ability to translate technical knowledge into real outcomes, along with effective communication skills when dealing with the public, a wide range of stakeholders and internal colleagues.
