Description:
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated engineer who is eager to join our dynamic magnetic measurement team as an Engineer for Field Magnetic Measurements and Modeling. As an engineer in the magnet group (TE-MSC), you will learn and conduct magnetic measurements on both normal and superconducting magnets. In this role, you will be designing, developing, and implementing systems and instruments used for measuring, characterizing, and analyzing magnetic fields, the quality of which is critical for applications related to particle accelerator machines. If you have a strong interest in sensors, data acquisition, signal processing, and data science, we welcome your application and the opportunity for you to contribute to our team.
ABOUT US
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Electronic/Electrical, or Computing engineer eager to learn and join our dynamic magnetic measurement team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing systems and instruments used for magnetic field measurements, characterization, and analysis, particularly in magnetic applications for accelerator machines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Magnetic Field Measurement:
- Design and perform magnetic measurements for various applications, including accelerator magnets and magnetic materials;
- Develop and optimize procedures for measuring static and dynamic magnetic fields, particularly for hysteresis compensations;
- Developing predictive models that learn from historical data to make future predictions or classifications.
System Design and Development:
- Develop and integrate electrical systems for magnetic measurement setups, including sensors and calibration;
- Work on signal conditioning, data acquisition, and processing techniques to improve measurement precision.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze magnetic measurement data, identifying patterns, anomalies, and performance characteristics;
- Provide detailed reports and visualizations to support R&D, production, or testing teams.
Testing and Validation:
- Implement quality control and assurance processes to ensure the reliability of magnetic measurements;
- Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and patterns for AI applications.
