JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Engineer – HVAC, Utilities & PLC Controls
REPORTS TO: Facilities Planning Manager
DEPT NAME & #: Facilities (1205)

JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Collaborate and provide ideas & suggestions for improvements to plant operations, ensuring continued success of the site. Engineers will operate, maintain and resolve plant utilities and equipment malfunctions. Correct mechanical & electrical breakdowns following strict product Safety & Quality standards. Engineers must have the ability and initiative to participate in plant problem-solving teams, have the ability to apply problem-solving techniques, demonstrate leadership and communicate effectively. Interested individuals should capable of working in a fast paced, developing environment. Provide 24/7 support of manufacturing process equipment operation and maintenance as well as provide technical leadership to improve and enhance process automation functions. Responsibilities for this role include support of projects associated with new process installations, including automation design/strategy, start-up, commissioning, mechanical/electrical installation, and validation support. Projects are multifaceted and require critical thinking and problem solving techniques critical for success. Must have the following skills and experience: Electrical/electronic problem solving in a manufacturing plant; expertise with Allen Bradley PLC’s. Be able to repair, and calibrate instrumentation and have experience with Windows based PC’s. Work well in a team-based environment with limited supervision, and be available to work any shift, weekends and holidays as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Multiple year’s of experience in GMP environment.
  • Experience with Equipment Monitoring and control systems.
  • Background in SAP CCMS system.
  • Must have technical skills in (basic PLC skills, machining, welding tasks, high pressure gases)
  • Multiple years of experience with technical processes, instrumentation, and related control systems.
  • Experience in computer control automation system start-ups, loop tuning, and problem resolution of control system modifications.
  • PLC ladder logic, IO networks, control computers and associated control component repair.
  • Experience with control platforms like; Rockwell Factory Talk, AB PLCs, WonderWare, iFix, Seimens, or associated IO and communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of engineering principals and practices, including Microsoft office tools (i.e. excel, word, visio) required.
  • Instrumentation, repair, and calibration.
  • Experience with Windows based PC’s
  • Must have knowledge of or be willing and able to train in Maintenance Systems (SAP), computer functions and technology upgrades related to predictive maintenance.
  • Support a culture of advancement and continuous improvement, while actively participating in site productivity programs.
  • Participation and compliance with environmental policies, procedures, and safety programs.
  • Perform all tasks as assigned by manager

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or technical degree in engineering, instrumentation, process automation or related experience in this field.
  • Qualified applicants will have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/FACTORS:

  • Be capable of moving up to 25 lbs.
  • Work in all types of environments, and all seasons associated with the job.
  • Indoor/outdoor, physical environment.
  • Function in a continuously evolving environment, while balancing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • A physical ability to spend time on the floor during activity execution (maintenance, construction, commissioning, and qualification).
  • Overtime requirements as needed.
  • Must be available for shift work & weekend work
