Description:
Primary Duties: Acts as staff specialist in providing technical guidance for complex or unique assignments related to designing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), network diagrams, installation details, control panel layouts, and developing equipment specifications for water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection systems. Apply diversified knowledge of design engineering principles and practices, and independently making decisions on significant design engineering problems or methods. Develop P&IDs and control drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D, BIM 360, Bluebeam, and other relevant software tools. Design instrumentation and control systems for water/wastewater treatment plants, including selecting and specifying appropriate sensors, control valves, instruments, and control panels. Assist in the development of project design concepts and criteria. Make recommendations on project staffing. Analyze complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures related to P&IDs. Consult with construction personnel concerning design constructability. Monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget. Provide input for proposals, engages with proposal teams, managers at meetings and conferences. Plan, organize, and lead design engineering activities for a project of significant size and complexity, or two or more projects of moderate size and complexity. Provide direction and supervision to Design Engineers I – IV, does not have hiring or firing authority. Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to instrumentation and control systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related engineering field from an ABET accredited program and 8 years of related experience in controls engineering.
- Must have experience in computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment for piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Must have experience with controls engineering software, including AutoCAD Plant 3D, BIM 360, and Bluebeam.
- Up to 20% regional travel is required.
- Work from home is authorized within reasonable commuting distance.
