THE POSITION

MDA Space is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer in the field of Analog/Digital/Power Hardware Design to join our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Electrical Engineering Department in a variety of tasks. As a member of the Electrical Engineering Team in Analog/Digital/Power Hardware Design, you will work in the Logistics & Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) program (to support On-Orbit Space Station activities), and/or the Gateway External Robotics System (GERS) program, and/or the planetary/lunar rovers’ programs, and/or R&D activities.

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical or Systems Engineering
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in engineering function in space, robotics, or related technical field.Candidates may be considered for a Intermediate/Working/Senior levels based on their qualifications and relevant industry work experience.
  • Strong oral, written and verbal communication skills
  • Result orientated and exhibits excellent critical thinking
  • Works well in a dynamic environment and to a specific set of requirements
  • Strives to provide customers/clients with personalized and efficient service
  • Team player that demonstrated high level of integrity

The compensation range for this position is $88,000 - $117,7000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The interested candidates do not need to be experienced in all areas below, but should demonstrate proficiency in at least Analog, Power, Motor/Motor controller, Cable/Test rack designs.

  • Low-noise Analog circuit design including sensor front-end amplifiers, filtering, and data acquisition systems.
  • High-speed digital and analog board design experience including schematic entry, circuit simulations, electrical worst-case analysis, parts stress analysis, PWB layout design, and support to Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) drawings and manufacturing.
  • Testing and debugging of CCAs at the board level, testing of avionics at the unit level, and system integration level.
  • Proficient in the use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, TDR’s and VNA’s, power amplifiers, function generators etc.
  • Have the ability to understand the client’s requirements and break it down into a detailed specification document that guides design and testing
  • DC Brushless/Brushed Motor Driver/Controllers, resolvers, and encoders design
  • Perform electrical analysis for motors and motor controllers
  • Design of motor control schemes and sensors related to motor drivers
  • Integrate the designs taken from electrical engineering, materials, thermal and structural analysis in 3D models
  • Perform design related activities for avionics chassis designs with considerations for EMI/EMC, thermal, structural and mass and volume constraints
  • Develop production, assembly drawings and parts lists
  • Develop standard manuals, business processes and template
