Description:
SERVICE > GLOBAL SERVICE OPERATIONS > DRIVE TRAIN
The Powertrain Engineering department in Turbine operations is an integral part of Global Service Operations Engineering. The department supports all three pillars of Vestas Service: onshore, offshore and multibrand business.
In Powertrain, we provide best-in-class service solutions for products out of CIM warranty, but not exclusively. We are in close collaboration with Vestas R&D department and understand ourselves as experts in our domain and provide solid technical expertise to the service organization concerning main components repair, industrialization of service solutions, maintenance and product performance, lifetime extensions, continuous improvement, etc.
In sum, we are central members in the value chain with great contribution to keeping turbines spinning to create value for our customers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience within service business of wind powertrain (gearboxes or generator) or similar
- Experience in the design of mechanical systems and familiarity with international standards for powertrain design, e.g. IEC, ISO, AGMA
- Knowledge in 3D-Modeling and 2D-drafting e.g., CREO parametric/PDMLink
- Familiarity with data query language, e.g., MS SQL is beneficial
Responsibilities:
- Development of innovative and best-in-class service solutions for wind powertrain with the right maturity, quality level, cost-effectiveness, respecting standards and satisfying customer demands
- Act as SME in project teams and deliver project activities, e.g., cost-out projects, root cause analyses, design and process FMEA, risk assessment, maintenance strategies, condition monitoring, performance analysis, etc.
- Assess Powertrain field performance, and develop data-based service specifications to capture field feedback to improve the serviceability of Powertrain components
- Create and review technical specifications for drive train components e.g., requirement specifications, technical supplier specifications, technical purchase specifications, etc., and provide technical support to the technical writers
- Create user-friendly service instructions, technical inputs to technical documentation, and provide inputs on training materials for service technicians
- Contribute to the development of in-house competencies, improve internal knowledge sharing, excel in tasks and project execution around powertrain repair solutions, respecting the operational strategy
- Provide technical support and guidance to regional service teams regarding turbine operation, service, and maintenance, as well as resolution of complex powertrain issues
- Support service strategy by implementing change requests, updating service documentation, improving design and implementation of service solutions
- Provide technical assistance to the purchasing department, e.g. conversion of commercial requirements into technical requirements
- Stay up to date with the service solution evolution in wind turbine technologies and methodologies of powertrain systems and contribute to patent development and internal technical publications
