Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Product Integration is involved in leading the end-to-end development of products. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting Senior and Lead Engineers on large projects, or leading smaller projects with support from more senior staff.
Product Integration activities include, competitor benchmarking, capturing the key product requirements including the Voice-of-Customer (VoC), concept review, attribute management, compromise management between system needs, product-level DFMEA, supporting design verification planning (DVP), test activity and build activity.
This specific role will work on Projects within the Fortescue Zero EPIC (Energy, Power, Infrastructure and Conversion) Business Unit. You will be responsible or support driving projects with FZ’s cutting-edge high voltage DC/DC technology through from concept to production into a range of applications, including heavy industry vehicles, energy and charging infrastructure.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Generate project scope and system specifications and for taking engineering designs from concept through to manufacture.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary project delivery team to deliver a holistic product within FZ’s New Product Creation System (NPCS) framework.
- Influence initial concepts and architecture selection and aid analysis of how architecture decisions constrain functions and impact cost and quality.
- Early-stage research including, first-principles and academic research or partnering, technology and technology suppliers research and competitor benchmarking.
- Capture the key product requirements including the Voice-of-Customer (VoC) through the Polarion software.
- Attribute management and compromise management between system needs to achieve an optimum mix of cost, performance and quality, within the timescales.
- Coordinate product-level DFMEA generation, with input from other key stakeholders.
- Support Design Verification Planning (DVP), test methodologies, test activity and build activity.
- Generate and communicate technology and project material in the form of reports, documents and presentations.
- Problem solving and fault rectification.
- You understand Manufacturing and Quality processes and systems that confirm components and assemblies meet regulatory/certification requirements in 2 or more sectors. Generate solutions that are suitable for volume production or integration into a wider product offering, and consider the Manufacturing and Quality processes and systems required to do so.
