Description:
Responsibilities:
- Perform as a technical expert on conduct of engineering and engineering change control governances for conventional and nuclear systems design. Provide oversight to existing established governances and lead their transformation as needed to support design development, construction/installation, commissioning, and operations and maintenance of the DGR facility.
- Develop new and manage changes to existing governance documents including policies, procedures, instructions, checklists, controlled forms, templates, etc., ensuring there are no ambiguities, inconsistencies and contradictions.
- Provide day to day to support to engineering staff as the resident conduct of engineering and engineering change control governance subject matter expert.
- Establish and oversee contracts; participate in the development and issuance of contracting documents, Request for Proposals (RFP’s), evaluation and selection of contractors. Reviewing work plans, technical reports and design outputs; monitor/report on contractor performance against work plans and schedule. Troubleshoot issues that arise.
- Participate and chair technical meetings with cross-functional teams and identify issues causing conflict such as competing work priorities or objectives. Work together to analyze alternative approaches and to reach mutual agreement on the problems resolutions.
- Lead projects and studies within assigned discipline involving nonstandard requirements. Provide work direction to other technical staff assigned to the projects. Develops work plans, determine resource requirements, coordinate work efforts of other involved groups and adapt project activities to address changing priorities and anticipate and resolve problems which pose as an impediment to successful completion of the project/deliverables.
- Produce reports, presentations and or other documents including detailed designs, technical specifications and other design documentations.
- Provide generalist services to other aspects of the engineering program outside assigned discipline.
- Represent the NWMO or support other NWMO technical staff at public commission hearings or other regulatory bodies, conferences and workshops, and public facing events, as required.
- Ensure all working activities, programs, studies and contracts, reflect an awareness of the applicable legislative, NWMO and department safety requirement and programs and are in compliance with the same.
- Contribute to the development and administration of safety programs.
- May be required to participate in budget submissions, financial evaluation and purchase justifications as requested.
- Stay current with developments within field of expertise through reference to relevant technical publications, and regular interface with internal and external experts and research and educational bodies.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
