As our new Engineer Secondary Steel Design, you will be part of our global Offshore Wind Engineering department. You will join a team of highly talented and engaged engineers at the forefront of innovative and complex design techniques in steel and composite materials. You will take on responsibility for your own design deliverables applying an analytical approach and structural understanding to create innovative solutions – with the aim of shaping and enhancing our service delivery.

The position will be based in our Hamburg office, but our hybrid work model allows you to split your time between working in the office and working from home.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, with a strong focus on design of steel structures, preferably with focus on design of offshore steel structures or similar areas of study
- First professional experience in design of steel structures advantageous, Graduates are expressly welcome
- Well conversant with design standard requirements; DNV and Eurocode experience is preferable
- Able to perform multiple engineering tasks with autonomy and willingness to go the extra mile
- Experienced in coordinating designs with other disciplines and other stakeholders both in person and remotely
- Motivated to learn and grow in an international and skilled team of structural engineers, as well as to seize any opportunity to exceed expectations
- High integrity and team spirit, proactively engaging with others and offering support when required
- Very good communication skills and proactive, analytical approach to assignments
- Fluent in both written and spoken English when interfacing with various disciplines and stakeholders, both in person and virtually
Responsibilities:
- Design of secondary steel structures such as internal / external platforms, boat landings, access arrangements, anode cages and various advanced steel details
- Perform detailed structural calculations using FE tools like RFEM
- Perform hand calculations to verify the output of software analysis packages
- Work closely with other engineers and CAD technicians in project teams to deliver innovative and efficient designs to meet the client’s needs
- Optimise designs through skilled examination of results and important design drivers
- Coordinate design activities with other counterparts
- Support the discipline lead in presenting our designs to clients and external stakeholders
- Ensure calculations are sufficiently checked and document all quality assurance processes to fulfil project audit requirements
- Help to ensure designs fulfil the latest health and safety requirements accounting for the full life cycle of the structure from fabrication through to decommissioning
- Contribute to internal development activities to continuously improve and optimise our designs
