The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is responsible for environmental protection, food production and standards, agriculture, fisheries and rural communities in the UK. The DEFRA sites in Sevington and Dover act as locations for starting and ending transit movements of goods from the UK.
We are looking for an Engineering Shift Manager based in Kent that can supervise 2 engineering technicians and oversee maintenance activities across our two DEFRA sites and adhere to a safe system of work.

Leading from the front, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Supervising the safe operation and repair of all mechanical and electrical (M&E) building services and fabric equipment.
  • Health and Safety (including risk assessments)
  • Stakeholder Management (working with multiple Hard FM subcontractors)
  • Stock and cost control
  • Emergency call outs (attend site to provide engineering expertise out of hours)

You will ideally have an engineering qualification equivalent to NVQ level 4 or higher and an IOSHH qualification . You will be IT literate, have a good knowledge of systems, be proactive and possess great attention to detail.
This is a 4 on 4 off dayshift only role.
