Description:

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Engineer, Sustainable Energy Solutions provides engineering services for the market transformation of energy solutions that enable customers to achieve emission reduction goals. This includes liaising with regulators and industry partners and ensuring the sound application of engineering and industry practices are applied to program recommendations and evaluations, service offerings, and technology demonstrations and evaluations.

Position Details

  • Non-union. This position is permanent full time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform emissions calculations in accordance with recognized measurement, reporting and verification methodologies for customer greenhouse gas emissions savings through customer emission reduction programs.
  • Create emissions trends analysis and forecasts, ensuring credible results.
  • Coordinate demonstration of innovative or emerging customer technologies in Saskatchewan, working with stakeholders and communicating effectively.
  • Identify and address market barriers of technology for inclusion into customer programs.
  • Provide engineering expertise for the evaluation, development, implementation and support of customer emission reduction programs and services.
  • Establish and maintain a best practice approach to customer energy efficiency program and service design recommendations that reduce customer greenhouse gas emissions cost-effectively, utilize sound assessments of technology, and leverage local data, external resources and industry peers.
  • Liaise with regulators, government agencies, industry partners and other stakeholders on evolving climate change policies and regulations, and emerging technologies related to the use of gas in homes, businesses and industry.
  • Evaluate impacts of policy and regulatory changes related to buildings’ energy use and emissions on customer emission reductions programs and SaskEnergy’s competitive position; develop recommendations and communicate internally.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred, others will also be considered).
  • Professional Engineer Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
  • Five (5) years of progressive engineering experience including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to convey key messages clearly and concisely to varying levels of senior management.
  • Experience in monitoring results and making necessary adjustments.
  • Results oriented and strategic thinker with the ability to manage complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.

An Engineer-in-training may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Additional Information

  • Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
  • A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
