As an Engineering Drafting and Records Coop student, you will collaborate with a team of Engineers, Drafters and Record Analysts to establish and maintain the quality of FortisBC standards and records. In this role, you will mainly assist our Engineering Drafting and Records team in creating and maintaining quality control documents as well as document control tasks such as drawing check-in/out, drawings upload and reservation for internal and external stakeholders. As an Engineering Drafting and Records Co-op student, you will have an opportunity to gain practical experience of drafting, document control, quality check and quality assurance on highly technical Engineering documents. In this role, you will:
Collaborate with Engineers and other team members to maintain and revise engineering drawings using CAD software.
Work with Engineering Drafting Work Leader to address internal and external stakeholders’ requests for drawing reservation.
Work with Engineering Drafting Work Leader to maintain FortisBC’s DMS.
Work with Engineering team to ensure the drawings meet Regulatory and FortisBC’s standards of quality.
Work with FortisBC’s Records Analysts to identify issues on Engineering drawings, provide feedback, and help address the issues on engineering records.
Collaborate with Project Compliance Coordinator and Engineering team in creating Engineering shapefiles using ArcGIS.
Provide project closeout support by being a bridge between the Records Analysts and Engineering groups to ensure Engineering closeout deliverables are submitted thoroughly and timely. What it takes:
You are enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program (second year or higher), or technologist level program in Applied Sciences.
You are enrolled in a Co-op program.
You are skilled in the art of interacting with people at all levels of the company as well as external stakeholders.
Exceptional communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Strong presentation skills.
Comfortable working broad range of responsibilities with multiple stakeholders with various professional backgrounds.
You are a “self-starter” and work effectively on your own or in a team environment.
Experience or knowledge with CAD applications and ArcGIS.
Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, etc). Additional Information
