Based in Southampton (1 day approx per week in London) the purpose of this role is to manage the technical delivery of specific major capital projects in ABP, leading or managing the projects asset workstream. Through strong technical management and delivery, the returns of the project should be optimised throughout its lifecycle. Our projects are developed within our regional context and this role will deliver in collaboration with regional functions. This is critical to ensure we adapt to the local context and leverage the resources and expertise already established.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Asset Lead on major Development projects – responsible for scope definition and management of delivery of key technical work packages.
- Ensure an effective resourcing plan is established to deliver the asset workstream, utilising the existing regional organisation and the Group Professional Services Framework (GPSF).
- Leading deliverable reviews of Consultant and Contractor output to ensure a robust technical approach and that the scope and key outputs have been delivered
- Identifying, planning and managing procurement activities for the asset workstream including the GPSF and survey works. This will include developing tender documentation, responding to tender clarifications, undertaking, or managing tender reviews and supporting the contract award process.
- Coordination of asset workstream outputs with Development and Delivery Managers to develop key project requirements including scheduling, cost planning and risk management.
- Support Project Development Managers in asset scope definition, customer, and operational requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of Group Projects technical best practice tools and share best practice across the wider ABP group.
- Proactively identify and address risks and opportunities.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Chartered Engineer ideally.
- Strong track record of technical project delivery – motivated by delivering enhanced project value.
- Hands on approach with a key focus on critical deliverables.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to understand all functional drivers.
- Assertive – able to challenge internal stakeholders in a positive and collaborative manner.
- Ability to operate in a ‘lean’ client model understanding the practical way forward to reach results.
- Experience with projects in a port environment and/or supply chain related industrial environment.
