The Engineering Design department objective is to provide the best design in the shortest possible time, always complying feasibility & quality. As part of the Engineering Design team you will be required to create and lead model designs from cradle to grave; this means your participation starts from vehicle conceptualization, but also requires your support and fast response at launch events

What you´ll need:

  • To be an active student from the last four semesters of any engineering degree on Automotive, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial or related disciplines.Work experience in the design/CAD area (automotive industry background preferred but not essential)
  • Engineering knowledge of Mechanical, Structural, Materials concepts.
  • Basic knowledge on Core Tool skillset (DFMEA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, Systems Engineering)
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5. Knowledge of Team Center / TcVis preferrable but not mandatory.

Coursework in modeling software tools is desirable but not essential

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Operates in CATIA / Team Center / TcVis with speed and efficiency.
  • Generates quality CAD concepts and alternatives in a timely manner.
  • Drives for resolution on compatibility, feasibility, and functionality issues.
  • Creates/manages robust, parametric and associative B2P parts.
  • Applies automation tools as applicable (Visual Basic-CATIA)
  • Works directly with tool shops and suppliers on feasibility issues.
  • Works directly with extended PD Engineering team to resolve feasibility, appearance, attribute, and functional issues.
  • Creates/manages assemblies, drawings, etc.
  • Creates/manages vehicle environment with complete system interfaces.
  • Locates, manages and Releases data in Teamcenter.
  • Seeks system interfaces and identifies incompatible designs in TcVis and e2KS.
  • Confirms BOM structures in Ford proprietary tools (FEDEBOM and CDHR).
  • Awareness of Foundation/Core Tools (DFMEA, SCCAF, 5D’s).
  • Design compatible B2P parts, assemblies and integrate FSS sub-systems.
  • Design manufacturing feasible system(s) per GMRs and/or Supplier requirements.
  • Design per functional requirements and design rules.
  • Design to meet GPDS deliverables.
  • Design to applicable CAD methods/FECDS standards
  • Knowledgeable relative to responsible sub-system requirements.
  • Deep understanding of automotive design environment relative to sub-system.
  • Understands traditional manufacturing processes (injection molding / stamping).
  • Understands traditional assembly and joining processes.
  • Initiates issue resolution with FSS owners.
  • Takes lead to drive resolution on compatibility and feasibility issues.
  • Proactively seeks out Design rules and functional requirements.
  • Shares status and issues without being prompted or required.
  • Proposes alternate feasible solutions.
  • Seeks out additional assignments.
  • Proactively identifies/develops/deploys efficiency ideas (tool and/or process improvement).
