Description:
Job Purpose: Our Emirates Engineering Facilities department is dedicated to creating and maintaining premier environments for all engineering needs. From state-of-the-art hangars and workshops to efficient material stores, offices, and training spaces, we ensure every facility supports and enhances engineering excellence. We manage electrical power, air conditioning, fire safety, cleaning, specialized equipment, landscaping, and compressed air systems, while supporting facility expansion and maintenance.
An Engineering Facilities Maintenance Officer will plan, organise, control and coordinate the Facility maintenance, operations, repairs and minor projects activities being carried out throughout the Engineering Facilities buildings and installations by appointed contractors or internal resources, ensuring that all such activities are carried out to the manufacturer’s recommended guidelines, relevant applicable standards and recognised maintenance engineering practices with minimum disruption to the aircraft maintenance operations.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee and control the scheduled maintenance activities to ensure that the maintenance plan is followed as per the approved schedule. Re-scheduling work where required and following up with staff, contractors, and suppliers on outstanding work, material requirements and quotations. Track and forward details of outstanding works to update the Facility Maintenance Manager on a weekly basis on all outstanding work.
- Control the quality of maintenance and repair work carried out by contractors and in house staff on equipment and installation by carrying out regular inspections and audits to ensure that all work done is in accordance with manufacturer’s recommended guidelines and recognised maintenance engineering practices.
- Respond to and manage emergency situations such as: activation of fire alarms, Building Management System alarms, Energy Management System alarms, safety hazards, complete or partial power failures, flooding, passenger/vehicle lift faults, as and when required. Update the necessary emergency procedures/contingency plans to ensure the emergency situation is normalised with minimum disruption to the operation and safety of staff is not compromised.
- Attend regular fire fighting training and lead the Facility emergency response team in first line fire fighting and initiation of evacuation of affected areas.
- Monitor and control the activities of contractors carrying out minor projects at EK Engineering sites, ensuring that the design and work performed are compliant with EK ENGG initial requirements, specifications and applicable standards, and ensuring that such activities are in line with the Group safety contractor’s requirements and that they have a valid site certificate. Liaise with end users to ensure that they are aware of the work being carried out in their areas and ensure that work is planned and scheduled to avoid disruptions to operations.
- To support the review of design deliverables and construction progress of assigned projects. While ensuring that you document, assist, follow up, and provide reports for tracking the drawings’ validation status. With the consideration of supporting the sustainability approach of the department.
- Request through the Facilities Admin team the issuing of Contractors Permit to Work, gate passes, and out passes for materials and equipment being taken out of EK Engineering premises. Ensure that the request is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with the company process
- Manage and coordinate the allocation of resources ensuring that they are utilised effectively and efficiently giving priority to urgent requirements to ensure the least disruption to the aircraft maintenance operations.
- Manage the issuing of hot work permits and red tags for impairments to the fire detection and suppression systems. Ensuring that all such permits are forwarded to EK Insurance department and EK’s Insurance company immediately upon issue. Provide frequent updates on the status of impairments to the insurance company and EK group Insurance department.
- Plan, initiate and control major shut downs to power, water and air-conditioning systems in order to carry out preventive maintenance, repair and minor project activities. Liaise with airport/Dubai municipal authorities and EK departments informing them of the planned activities which may impact their operations and provide information, support and back up solutions to minimise disruptions to their operations.
Qualifications & Experience: To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Have 2+ years of experience in Engineering or Other.
- Have a Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) :
Knowledge/skills you should have:
- Electrical/Civil/Mechanical building maintenance experience within a large industrial environment, preferably in the Aviation industry.
- Experience in previous supervisory experience.
- Must possess a valid U.A.E driving license.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write and communicate proficiently in English.
- Must be computer literate with good knowledge of MS word and excel.
