Job Title: Engineering Lead
Location: London or Edinburgh
Salary: £86,964 - £118,420 (depending on location)
Hours: Full time
Working Pattern: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in office.

About this opportunity
Our Cash Management & Payments Platform, GEM Lab teams aim to deliver the highest quality software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting colleague development. This is a software engineering level role within the Lab that will blend deep domain / technical expertise with great passion for mentoring and developing software’s in delivering technical solutions to become the bank of the future.
Your contribution will be instrumental to our strategy of simplifying, modernising, and de-risking the Cash management and payments technology landscape, enabling the Bank of the Future and ultimately driving value for customers and shareholders. This is a key role at the financial heart of LBG, underpinning the long-term sustainability and integrity of the organisation.

What you’ll do

• You’ll collaborate with Product and other Engineering teams, driving efforts to create, build, support and improve our software.
• Simplify and modernise our technology estate to enable internal flexibility and increase responsiveness to evolving customer needs.
• Extend and enhance the functionality of our existing applications.
• Lead teams delivering micro-service-based applications and play a key role in moving our legacy stack onto Cloud.
• Contribute to setting the strategic direction for how we integrate with applications from other platforms and different providers.
• Ensure applications are fast, secure, and work across all manner of devices and platforms.
• Mentoring and developing engineers, providing clear and constructive feedback, whilst driving a culture of learning and continuous improvement
• Ensuring that all engineering work in the Lab is carried out in line with Bank standards and fully rounded engineering methods and principles

• Identify and mitigate against risks to value delivery, live operational services, and technology platform.

  What you’ll need

• Extensive experience in Cash Management and Payments for Commercial

• Experience implementing changes in SAP Banking Products
• Java / Java Script (Spring, Spring Boot, Node JS)
• Experience in working with Kafka , Microsoft Azure and IBM Aurora cloud servers
• Experience in usage of Websphere / Collective controller / IHS
• Dev Ops Tooling : Jenkins / Maven / GitHub / Urban code / Dynatrace / Splunk
• Hands-on experience on Microservices and exposing them as REST / SOAP API’s
• Experience in deploying services in on-prem and containerised (Kubernetes) environment
• Experience in Cloud deployments and providing solutions in hybrid cloud environment
