SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Python: Designing and creating code in Python, to create innovative solutions and drive forward our financial applications.
Microservices: A lot of our platforms and systems are built on a microservice architecture, experience working in this environment will be beneficial.
Management experience: You will have direct reports and will be handling day-to-day line management responsibilities. You will also need a good understanding of how to develop them personally and professionally.
Communication & Stakeholder Management: This will be a collaborative and cross-functional role, working with a range of different teams and stakeholders to gather business requirements, strong communication and stakeholder management is essential.
Defining strategy and optimisation :With this role creating a new team we will need an individual that who has had experience defining the direction of an engineering team and optimising the delivery throughout development,
Numerical Skills: You will be working on complex financial platforms, which will require a strong level of numerical literacy.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF ROLE

You will lead a new engineering team, bringing a new skillset to the bank, working on our core banking system. This is an innovative project to change the way we work and shape the products the bank can offer for years to come.
Collaborating with a range of talented teams across the bank, you’ll work closely with product teams, banking specialists and engineering teams to ensure that quality standards are met and a product delivery focus is applied throughout.
This role offers a chance for a skilled lead to deepen their domain experience of developing a dynamic team of engineers, using Agile methodologies to provide continuous system improvements and deliver new features, enhancements, and functionality.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working as part of a Product focused team this role is responsible for building, maintaining and defining the way our product offerings should work. This is a role in a key team that will help to shape the products the bank can offer for years to come.
  • You will need to prioritise tasks efficiently, communicate clearly, and collaborate across various aspects of engineering projects.
  • Develop a new software engineering team within the business, where you will provide technical direction and line management to service the next-generation platform.
  • Participate in understanding business requirements during agile ceremonies including backlog refinement sessions. Taking responsibility for implementing the most appropriate solution, bearing in mind, non-functional requirements around performance and security.
  • Advising on the best technical approaches, considering both time to implement and long-term implications.
  • Working to establish a culture of continuous improvement in the team, by consistent application of lessons learned and supporting the new squad’s development and performance.
  • Maintaining product quality by ensuring engineering processes and standards are followed.
