Description:

Main Purpose:
The Engineering Manager – Bitumen is primarily accountable for:

Providing engineering support to the Bitumen terminal network globally for Puma Energy

  • Oversight on the planning and execution strategies for projects, including responsibility for maintaining the engineering standards and practices used and along with maintaining an external network for engineering and project delivery services.

Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Project Services:
Maintain a network of engineering consultants, project managers and construction managers to deliver projects and major maintenance to plan;
Site Support and Engagement:
Conduct site inspections to monitor works undertaken and check conditions as required;
Technical Leadership:
Provide guidance, leadership and technical direction for projects and maintenance undertaken by the Bitumen terminals;
Engineering Standards:
Document company asset and engineering standards. Monitor compliance to standards and provide guidance to others, ensuring a high standard of compliance.
Technology:
Maintain a knowledge and understanding of trends and technology applicable to the Bitumen industry;
Risk Management:
Identify and document potential risks and develop effective control strategies to minimise these risks;
Budget Management:
Create and manage budgets for projects and engineering services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial constraints.
Procurement:
Contributing towards, and lead where necessary, proposals and tenders where appropriate;
Safety & Quality:
Ensure all aspects of the safety management and quality management systems are followed in the work you perform;
Statutory Compliance:
Ensuring all engineering tasks, you perform and deliverables you create comply with statutory requirements as well as company policies and practices;
Business Support:
All other tasks as directed by your Manager.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Qualifications that best support this role are tertiary education in an Engineering related discipline.

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

  • > 5 years of experience related to similar operations, including > 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience in managing the safe operation of a hazardous facility, emergency response and managing high pressure situations.
  • The ability to lead, motivate and work collaboratively with others
  • Effective communicator
  • Knowledge of relevant industry safety, engineering standards and trade practices
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly regarding processing equipment
  • Experience in project management
  • Strong customer focus and self-motivated to identify and implement operational improvements
  • Strong computer skills using Office Suite, and any Maintenance and HSE systems
