Description:

DESCRIPTION:

About the role
At CES, we have ambitious targets to keep billions of drink containers out of landfill and transform them into resources that can be used again and again. Our in-house designed SaaS suite supports this mission.
We are currently hiring an Engineering Manager to lead two development teams (Lead Developers and Developers) to keep expanding our bespoke industry solution for new and existing recycling scheme clients.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, in this role you will lead technical vision and delivery for your portfolio at CES. You’ll guide engineering teams, set non-functional requirements, and support strategic initiatives through your technical expertise.
You are first and foremost a people leader and technical expert. You will lead discussions between our product and development teams and collaborate with other business stakeholders. You firmly believe in well-architected principles, have quality as a key motivator and understand Test/Behaviour Driven Development at a deep level.
Our projects are primarily in Java and Javascript with an increasingly event driven architecture deployed on Kubernetes on hyperscale cloud providers; you will help shape the roadmap and technologies for the continued growth phase of our organisation.
If you are an experienced Engineering Manager keen to use your technical expertise and people leadership skills in a sector with purpose - and enjoy our hybrid working and great harbour views while you do that – apply now!

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extensive experience (8-10 years plus) building high quality software, including large-scale enterprise applications – SaaS and multi-tenant products experience is a big plus.
  • 3+ years’ experience managing software engineers. A people leader with a coaching style and a demonstrated ability to develop and inspire and develop a team of people, as well as leading other leaders.
  • Technical leadership and expertise in Java, Event Driven Architectures, and API microservices.
  • Experience with UI/UX and full stack JS/TS development frameworks e.g. React, NextJS, NodeJS/NestJS.
  • Strong Agile experience to guide teams effectively within the CES Agile framework.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD, and containerized environments.
  • Strong quality focus, including experience with test driven development and behaviour driven development.
  • Exceptional ability to engage and communicate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, with an understanding of modern product roadmaps and delivery.
  • Experience with Incident Management and after-hours support for products in production.
  • Experience building applications that interact with relational and NOSQL databases (such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB etc.) using ORM (Hibernate/JPA etc.).
  • Experience in B2C and B2B Identity such as Okta/Auth0, Oracle IDCS is a big plus.
  • Experience in headless CMS such as Strapi, Contentful is a bonus.

Why work with us?

  • We are a growing IT-led organisation with a high performing team working for purpose – our contribution to recycling and the circular economy positively impacts communities and the environment.
  • We offer flexible working arrangements to help you fit work around your life - our IT team get together twice a week in our office to collaborate (and did we mention the incredible harbour views!).
  • Business stability – owned by 2 large multinationals

About CES
Accelerating the transition to a circular economy
We are proud to be an active contributor in the circular economy through container deposit schemes (10c refund for eligible drink containers). We help our scheme partners to recycle close to 10 million drink containers every day, diverting them from landfill into the circular economy.
Our technology and services enable the circular lifecycle of drink containers. We have a large in-house software engineering team using modern technology stacks to develop and support our products. As well as a suite of SaaS products, our range of business services includes accounting, payments, brand & marketing, materials trading, HR, customer service and support.
CES was formed in 2017 as a joint venture between Lion and Coca-Cola Euro pacific Partners and has grown rapidly. We are headquartered in North Sydney, near public transport with beautiful harbour views. Our teams are passionate about our mission to ensure valuable materials are recycled and not wasted. We provide an inclusive culture, hybrid and flexible working and career development to bring the best out in our people.
Originally known as Container Exchange Services, we have rebranded to Circular Economy Systems to recognise our vision to be leaders in the transition to a circular economy.
