Description:
OVERVIEW
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager to join our team in Wrexham.
We are a Wrexham based construction company, with other sites currently in North West Wales, Mid Wales and Cheshire. We focus on building quality, high specification projects. We create new build houses and apartment blocks along with Health Care Centres and Residential Homes.
Responsibilities:
REQUIRED SKILLS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
-Experience with all facets of Structural/Civils from day one on greenfield/brownfield site to structures and external finishes.
-Responsibility for Developing design through to RIBA Stage 6. Ensuring all necessary measures are taken to minimise changes after Construction Issue.
-Ability to Manage Design Consultants, Ground investigation & site setting out engineers.
-Ability to work to pre-construction programmes and implement them with consultants.
-Understanding of technical studies/ Site investigation reports.
-Clash detecting specialist Subcontractors and Consultants drawings with Architect/Engineers layouts.
-Understanding of Section agreements, ability to manage them through to their completion.
-Understanding of Sustainable Urban Drainage requirements.
-Ability to organise and chair design meetings.
-Ability to be client facing with queries going both ways.
-Knowledge of Building Regulations.
-Ability to deal with planning applications/discharge of conditions.
-Versant in Auto CAD & Microsoft project or equivalent software.
-Producing As built drawings.
-Document Control & Tracking.
-Experience supporting operations staff during the construction phase of a project.
DESIRABLE SKILLS & SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES.
-Ideally a background in Residential/Commercial developments working for a Main Contractor.
-Requesting fee proposals from consultants and Quotes from contractors for small works.
-working up new site layouts with input from Architects and Consultant Engineers.
-Familiarity with structural warranty providers requirements.
-Knowledge of Value Engineering techniques.
-Understanding of Timber frames, Steel frames & Concrete Frame structures.
-Understanding of Cut & Fill exercises utilising modern software.
-Knowledge of most types of retaining structures.
-Experience of communicating with Local Authority Building Control.
The role will entail working from our Wrexham head office reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager.
Working Alongside an established Design Manager.
There is a requirement to travel on occasion to sites to partake in meetings & surveys.
These are located along the North Wales Coast and as far south as Aberystwyth.
Salary £55k + Car allowance.
