NET ZERO TEESSIDE – A PIONEERING INITIATIVE AIMED AT TRANSFORMING TEESSIDE INTO A CARBON-NEUTRAL COMMUNITY BY 2030.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to join our Major projects team to become part of the Net Zero Teesside project. Based in Redcar with national and european travel, this is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of one of the UK’s most ambitious sustainability initiatives.
Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power) is a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power and carbon capture project and a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonized industrial cluster. This is only one stream of the work programs within the Balfour Beatty Major Projects Energy Transition performance unit, and our Balfour Beatty Major Projects have been undertaking work with our consortium partner Technip Energies (T.EN) through the Front End Engineering Design stage for a British Petroleum (bp) contract – for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and commissioning (EPCc) of Power Generation and Carbon Capture Unit / Sequestration Project.
Responsibilities:
ROLE OVERVIEW:
A Project Office / Site Based Design Management responsible for the development and implementation of design strategy for Major Complex Project to develop designs for Major Projects from FEED to EPC phase. Liaising / coordinating with Consortium Partners to ensure design (Process Plant and Industrial Building) are mature for readiness status, i.e., “Issued for Construction status” in line with the delivery schedule.
What you’ll be doing
As an Engineering Manager some key responsibilities will be:
- Key Engineering contact between Consortium Partner (T.EN) and BB Business units for the delivery of engineering packages to site construction teams
- Produce Design Management Plan to identify and manage Balfour Beatty Portfolio (BBMP, BBK, BB Regionals, BB Ground Engineering, etc) design deliverables.
- Ensure provision of an agreed design delivery programme that meets with construction need.
- Ensure that the design created suits the methodology adopted for construction.
- Technically appraise the BB Contract documentation in comparison to the Tender
- Chair and manage regular Design Review meetings with BB Business Unit Engineering Managers and Consortium Partner (T.EN)
