Description:
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager position provides overall leadership for the Product Launch Engineering and Process Engineering teams in the development of manufacturing processes to support growth with new customer programs and continuous improvement efforts.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering
EXPERIENCE
5-7 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
Supervisory Experience
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate/expert working knowledge of Microsoft Word, advanced working knowledge of excel and at a minimum intermediate level working knowledge Microsoft PowerPoint. The individual must also have a strong working knowledge of Solidworks. The incumbent will have exceptional documentation skills; strong analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills; strong oral and writing skills and strong documentation skills.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Foundational level knowledge in the application of Operational Excellence Principals- (Lean-Six Sigma). Excellent communication skills for internal and external contacts. Mental and visual attention with concentration on detail. Ability to present a positive ownership attitude towards work responsibilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Very High Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
High Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Ensure safety is considered in the development of all new products and processes. Provides leadership to the engineering team to ensure all safety policies and procedures are understood and followed.
- Leads the Engineering Team to ensure manufacturing processes are accurately developed and implemented to meet quoted rates and costs while aligning with current manufacturing capabilities. Ensures that continuous improvement efforts are directed towards improving rates and costs.
- Leads the part launch process (NORP) to ensure part launch is executed in the time frame required to provide the necessary manufacturing lead-time supporting on-time delivery of customer orders.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Development Engineering Teams to ensure that design for manufacturability requirements and current manufacturing capabilities are understood and considered in estimates and processes.
- Provides direction and makes recommendations for equipment purchases for customer growth and improvement projects. May be asked to lead efforts to present business case for equipment purchases to senior management team.
- Advise and direct the incorporation of lean concepts in all process development.
- Lead and manage large process improvement projects as necessary.
- Participate in cross functional teams to support organizational strategy, improvement, and growth
- Coach and mentor associates for continuous support for personal and organizational growth, as well as McAlpin core values.
- Perform associate reviews at the designated intervals.
