THE PLATFORM ORGANISATION - LET’S INTRODUCE OURSELVES

The mission of the Platform organisation is to create a secure digital infrastructure that enables growth, scale and efficiency.
Right now, several of our teams are in the process of moving from a traditional infra/sysadmin way-of-working and team setup, to one centred around the vision of platform-as-a-product. We are therefore looking for several Engineering Managers at various levels of seniority, to lead that transformation together with their Product Managers counterparts.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in people, platforms and product development. You are comfortable in leading through ambiguity and are empowering your team to act and learn in uncertain and complex environments. You also have experience of building diverse and inclusive teams.
At this stage we are specifically looking for candidates with previous experience of either working in a platform team, a product team or both.
We believe this is the role for you with at least a few years of experience as an Engineering Manager and who previously had experience as a developer. Experience of large-scale transformation initiatives is a plus.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an Engineering Manager in the Platform organisation, you will lead a team of engineers (or of more junior Engineering Managers in case of a senior role) in their work to design, develop, and maintain robust end-to-end platform capabilities.
You will be responsible for managing people, technology and delivery.
We are in an early phase of our transformation journey so key priorities for these positions are modelling the role and the product mindset for others, as well as complementing the existing staff with new hires who may diversify the team competences.

In this role you will:

• Collaborate tightly with your Product Manager so that you can lead the team together.
• Lead, grow, and keep happy a team of Engineers through hiring, mentoring, coaching, providing clarity and establishing tight feedback loops.
• Advocate and advance modern, agile platform engineering practices.
• Model and promote a product development approach for building our services.
• Help ensure the solutions we build are scalable, sustainable, architecturally sound, and technical debt is managed appropriately.
• Support the team in delivering on their commitments.
• Be an active member of the leadership or extended leadership team for your product area and collaborate with other leaders across the organization
