LEVEL 4 APPRENTICE - ENGINEERING MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and growing apprenticeship programme at Senior Bird Bellows. Our apprenticeships provide the opportunity to earn while you learn in an organisation committed to your professional development. Our apprentices develop specialist technical knowledge and skills to develop, produce or test products, processes or procedures that meet a customer specification in terms of quality, cost, and delivery as efficiently and effectively as possible.
As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced colleagues in our manufacturing business to gain valuable practical skills and experience in a hands-on environment and attend college as part of day release to study for your nationally recognised qualification.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS SHOULD I HAVE?

  • T-Level / BTEC Level 3 - Manufacturing/Engineering
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths Level 5
  • GCSE or equivalent in English Level 4

WHAT KNOWLEDGE SHOULD I HAVE?

  • Practical H&S of Engineering/Manufacturing Environment
  • Quality control processes of engineered parts
  • Engineering drawings/documentation

WHAT EXPERIENCE SHOULD I HAVE?

  • Work Experience in an Engineering / Manufacturing Environment

WHAT PRACTICAL SKILLS DO I NEED TO DEMONSTRATE?

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL MY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE?

  • Ensure safe systems of work and work instructions are adhered to for engineering or manufacturing activities.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient performance of production tasks in compliance with company procedures, approved engineering data and health and safety procedures.
  • Prepare product and process documentation by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
  • Create and develop concept designs using AutoCAD / Inventor and prepare 2D detailed design drawings in the appropriate format.
  • Use design tools such as FMEA to recognise and evaluate potential design risks.
  • Support internal or supplier quality notifications and liaise with the required stakeholders for resolution.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers to implement programme initiatives, such as the application of lean analysis methods, processes, and tools.
  • Deliver financial planning or costing analysis for manufacture of parts, providing cost-effective solutions.
  • Calculate Bellows membrane designs and produce design calculations.
  • Assist in the raising of Capital Expenditure requirements.
  • Support new product introduction or existing product modifications.
  • Support the development of new technology initiatives by contributing to activities.
  • Produce reports measuring KPI’s for data management activities.
  • Review processes and current methods of engineering and manufacturing to ensure they are efficient and cost effective.
  • Liaise with appropriate internal and external stakeholders at all levels to ensure that engineering and manufacturing operations are completed in line with agreed time scales.
  • Review work processes and outcomes to ensure compliance with any Local, National, or International regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ‘root cause analyses’ to resolve identified engineering or manufacturing problems.
  • Produce engineering or manufacturing documentation (e.g., job cards) to aid and ensure consistent, compliant, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
  • Review engineering or manufacturing methods to determine the most effective and economical method whilst meeting drawing and specification requirements.
  • Maintain auditable design files assigned to him/her.
