Description:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in Engineering project management, with a strong track record of successfully delivering complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make data-driven decisions in autonomy.
  • Proven record of expert communication skills & experience in managing multiple projects at once.
  • Experience in multi-country project management.
  • Familiar with analytical techniques, with the ability to review and manipulate data in Excel across multiple data sources

    At Amazon, we’re working to be the most customer-centric company on earth To this end, we are seeking an Early Life Cycle (ELM) Project Manager to join our Global Central Reliability Maintenance Engineering team. This role demands deep expertise in project management, strong technical proficiency, and the capacity to coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring on-time delivery and high-quality results.
    Successful candidates will have Engineering Program and Project Management experience combined with a strong technical problem-solving ability. Will prepare and deliver the Reliability and Maintenance (RME) launch plan for new sites as well as new equipment installations in legacy sites subsequently supporting RME field team in the execution of launch activities. Constantly aiming for safety, better equipment uptime, efficiency, cost management, quality, customer satisfaction, and ultimately profitability within Amazon. The candidate will work closely with field engineering team, the design and construction team, the central reliability team, and operational sites to deliver robust equipment to our network.
    This role involves a travel requirement of up to 30%

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle for new launches as well as new equipment installations in legacy sites, including requirements gathering, planning, risk mitigation, and successful deployment.
  • End-to-end ownership for large-scale engineering projects (planning, design, installation, commissioning and qualification, launch support).
  • Assess and communicate project status, drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Field Engineering, RME, Design & Construction, and operations teams to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones, and ensure effective communication and coordination across all stakeholders.
  • Developing Business Continuity and Risk Mitigation plans with site RME teams to allow a seamless handover from Construction or Field Engineering.
  • Supporting the expansion and execution of the RME qualification process, including vendor management and feedback.
  • Drive and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives working in close partnership with Design, Engineering, RME, Procurement and Safety partners.

About the team

The ELM team oversees the transfer of assets (MHE, Base Build, Emerging Tech) to the RME teams, working closely with Project Delivery Teams (e.g., GES, TES, MSP, AR) across Customer Fulfillment (CF), Amazon Transportation Systems (ATS), Amazon Logistics (AMZL), and Amazon Grocery Logistics (AGL). Supporting regions including North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, Australia, and engaging for standardization with India/Japan, ELM’s mission is to deliver a seamless, efficient building experience from the RME perspective, starting from project launch. This involves key objectives like minimizing downtime, increasing equipment availability, and ensuring RME technician readiness. The team also aims to achieve perfect maintenance accessibility, make initial spare parts available at the right cost, and coordinate external maintenance services, focusing on aligning people, processes, and resources to create a “perfect” building experience from the RME standpoint.

  • MBA, advanced degrees, and/or Black Belt certification(s).
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • A plus is speaking other EU languages.
