Description:

Engineering Specialist - Controls - Assembly and Machining
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma

Experience:

  • Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls.
  • Electrical Background (electrician or technician).
  • Related experience.
  • Familiarity with VFD’s, encoders, network/Ethernet controls, Profinet.
  • Cognex vision systems.

Preferred Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required).

Experience: 2+ years of related experience.

  • Strong problem solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery.
  • ABB robot experience.
  • PLC and CNC.
  • TIA Portal, Step 7, Rexroth, Schneider Unity, 840D.
  • Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics.
  • Experienced in laser burning.
  • Strong understanding of conveyors system programming and gantry systems, in addition to networking understanding, Ethernet, Profibus, Profinet.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Simulation modeling exposure.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience.
  • TQM and Kaizen Methods.
  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience.
  • Visual Factory Management.

  • Coordinate automation campaigns.
