We’re currently seeking a Engineering Specialist for our Canadian business which spans from our airport stations in St. John’s, NL to Kelowna, BC. The Engineering Specialist is a technical resource within Inland Technologies Engineering Department who is responsible and accountable for developing all aspects of technical design and documentation for mechanical sub-systems including the electronic controls portion of the equipment. Working with the Engineering Manager and other members if the Engineering team to develop these systems and deliver them through all the stages from concept development, detail design and manufacturing to final implementation at operations sites.
In this position, you will bring your engineering knowledge and mindset to assist with our spent aircraft deicing fluid reclamation, glycol fluid processing, aircraft deicing fluid manufacturing as well as our aircraft deicing and into-plane fueling operations.

In Canada, our three brands include:

  • Inland Technologies – Spent aircraft deicing fluid recovery, management, and recycling; equipment design and manufacturing; into-plane fueling and fuel farm management; Inland Fluids: Type 1 (EG) and lavatory fluid manufacturing.
  • IDS (Integrated Deicing Services) – Aircraft deicing and anti-icing; centralized deicing facility management; fluid inventory management.
  • Quantem Aviation Services – lavatory services

As the ideal candidate, you will bring the following skills and experience to this role:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree;
  • 7+ years of relevant Engineering experience relating to the development of mechanical, chemical and electrical industrial equipment and systems;
  • Specific technical experience relating to the design of mechanical industrial equipment with PLC based electronic control systems;
  • Engineering related field experience considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, motors, heat exchangers and instrumentation
  • Excellence in troubleshooting and thrives on technical problem solving;
  • Industrial Control System programming experience (PLC) considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, and in particular, an ability to tailor communication to effectively connect with a diverse spectrum of audiences;
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);

  • Develop PLC based control systems in support of the mechanical systems and sub-systems;
  • Participate in hands-on design development of equipment to support Inland’s current and future growth needs;
  • Work closely with the Engineering services team to progress designs from concept to detailed design, to manufacture and implementation;
  • Perform moderately complex design calculations and analysis;
  • Manage supporting documentation for Inland processes and equipment, including but not limited to Bills of Materials, design calculations, drawings, theory of operation documents, SOPs and troubleshooting guides;
  • Technical support for operational sites as needed, for example with technical troubleshooting;
  • Work cooperatively with all team members and external stakeholders involved in the completion of assigned duties;
  • Foster a team environment and create a “group culture”;
  • To accomplish any other tasks or projects that may, from time to time, be assigned by management.
