Description:

The Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Unit is part of the Directorate of Estates & Facilities (DOEF) and has a current portfolio of 229 buildings, We have over 30 listed structures, including The Manchester Museum, Whitworth Art Gallery, the Lovell Telescope and John Ryland’s Library and maintain in excess of 50,000 rooms, respond to over 80,000 reactive repair requests in both academic and residential buildings, and deal with over 600 ’out of hours’ emergency repair/requests to per annum.
The Facilities Maintenance and Compliance (FMC) team are seeking to appoint an Engineering Supervisor (Compliance) to work within the Compliance Team who will be responsible ensuring all activities undertaken by the in-house engineering team and contract labour, are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the University, Health & Safety policies and procedures, and particularly the Health & Safety at Work Regulations and all subordinate legislation, including applicable British Standards and approved codes of practise (ACOP).
Appropriate qualifications to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and Ordinary or Higher National Certificate qualifications (or be willing to work towards achieving the ONC/HNC level) in an electrical, mechanical or construction related discipline and having substantial vocational experience as applicable.
The ideal candidate would have experience working with CAFM (computer aided facilities management) systems at operational level for planned and reactive maintenance activities. Experience of electronic finance systems for the procurement of plant, external contractors and materials and experience of producing reports and correspondence.
